NIGERIANS SENSE ATIKU'S INTEREST IN 2023 PRESIDENCY

Though 2023 is still a few years ahead, the discussion
on who takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari has remained a topical issue in Nigerian politics.

Adamu Abubakar, a son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar, reignited the discussion when he disclosed that his father would be contesting again in the 2023 presidential election. Adamu who serves as a commissioner in Adamawa state made the statement during an occasion held to mark the first anniversary of the Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Finitiri.

The disclosure has sparked up diverse reactions from Nigerians on social media. Below are some of the reactions:

Lawrence Lurrrenzo Onuzulike Volcano commented: "Obasanjo said over his dead body would @atiku be president of Nigeria, and Atiku has been doing everything legal and illegal to prove him wrong, including buying Obasanjo's fake support as he went on to lose woefully at Obj's PU.
"These two are the real Tom and Jerry." "In every contest there are pretenders and contenders, anyone can pretend to be an aspirant but the real contenders are Atiku, Tinubu or anyone the presidency backs,"

Hamma, tweeting at @HAHayatu, said. Faith, tweeting at @Faith06795797, said: "I like Atiku but I don't want him to run in 2023. I campaigned for him in 2019, please let a fresh person run. You must not be President." Ayekooto, tweeting at @DeeOneAyekooto, said: "Daddy will run in 2023"-Atiku's Son "The safest place to run to now is Dominican." Awesome, tweeting at @lovevaluejp, commented: The son of Atiku has disclosed that his Dad will still contest for presidency come 2023, but Atiku replacing Buhari is like selling the dog to buy a monkey."

Anthony Eri commented: "The attitude of the West, (Yoruba people) will make the North so powerful again in Nigeria. Atiku will win in 2023 if Tinubu or any Yoruba man tries nonsense in the next election." Is this the language PHCN understands? By Bola Bolawole (opinion) Chris Ososa Asuelime, tweeting at @OsosaChris, said: "Atiku got more votes in the South West than Jonathan did in 2015. He won in Oyo and Ondo. If APC does not get her 2023 Presidential candidate right, the worst may happen! First, the candidacy should be lockdown to the South West then who gets the nod?"
