AJAX DEFEATS TOTTENHAM IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 1st LEG SEMI CLASH

Ajax Amsterdam have now scored in nine away matches in the UEFA Champions League, which
is a club record.
The 22-year-old Netherlands international attacking midfielder became the third youngest Ajax player to score in the UEFA Champions League history.
The away team had a chance to extend their lead with an excellent move and almost have a second goal but Lloris was there to make the save! A series of lovely passes and dummies at the edge of the box, but Van de Beek could not beat Lloris from Tadic’s through ball as the goalkeeper made a good stop from close range.
Big blow for Tottenham before half time as defender Jan Vertonghen had to be subbed off due to head injury and Sissoko, who just recovered from injury himself had to come on, meaning the team had to change from back three to back four.
The former Ajax defender suffered a heavy blow to the face from goalkeeper Onana, who rushed out to save a set-piece from Trippier.
Spur medical team wanted to force Vertonghen to continue despite referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz’s concern, but the player looked to have suffered a concussion and had to be taken off.
Toby Alderweireld came close to scoring an equalizer before half time with a free header as Trippier whipped a set piece into the penalty area, but the centre-back tried to head the ball into the far corner of the net, and he got slightly too much on it and it lands on top of the net.
Ajax could have extended their lead two minutes after the break as Tagliafico’s low drive from 25 yards out goes narrowly wide of the Tottenham goal, with Lloris diving across in an attempt to save it.
Saved by the pole! Ajax had another opportunity to extend their lead as Dusan Tadic set up David Neres, but the young Brazilian’s low shot strikes could only hit the woodwork as Hugi Lloris could only stand and look from one spot, before bouncing back into the box, only to be cleared by the Spurs defence.
Both teams had half chances to have scored in the second half, but could not. the second leg will decide who will qualify for the final, but the Dutch side have an advantage with the away goal.
