DEFEATED ELEPHANTS OUT OF AFCON




Reigning champions Ivory Coast have been eliminated from the ongoing AFCON 2017 tournament.
The Elephants
who won the 2015 edition, were defeated 1 - 0 in their final group game against Morocco which they needed to win to have any chance of making it to the quarter-finals.

Ironically, the Atlas Lions of Morocco is currently managed by Hervé Renard, the man who won the 2015 edition with Ivory Coast.

With just one point, the other team eliminated from Group C is Togo a team captained by former Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor.
Togo finished bottom of the group with two losses and one draw and lost their last group game against DR Congo.
Ivory Coast and Togo join Algeria, Guinea-BissauGabon and Zimbabwe in exiting the tournament while Morocco and DR Congo go through alongside Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Cameroon.
