ENGLAND SCHOOLS SET TO RESUME SEPTEMBER

Schools across England will welcome back all pupils to classrooms from September.
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson confirmed the Government intends to bring all children back to school in September.
He said: “School is vital for every one of our children. That is why we will bring all children, in all year groups, back to school in September.
“While many children have already returned to school, I do understand that there is anxiety still among parents.
“I want to assure you that the wellbeing of your children is the absolute top priority for every single one of us.”
Mr Williamson said the Government would “not allow an entire generation to lose out on their education”.
Mr Williamson said ministers would publish guidance for schools on how to bring children back “within the next two weeks”.
While Boris Johnson has said it is his intention that children of all ages in England should be able to return to school on a five-day-a-week basis in September.
The Prime Minister has said to “watch this space” when asked whether social distancing restrictions could be cut to help schools to return in autumn.
It comes as ministers are set to reveal plans to extend the school day to allow children to catch up on work following lockdown.
It is suggested there will now be earlier starts and later finish to allow for extra lessons either side of the day.
Boris Johnson has this week promised a "massive catch-up operation" to try to minimise the impact of the lockdown on children's education.
Teachers, though, won't be expected to work during the summer under the plans, it's said.
It comes as the UK moves its 'alert level' from 4 to 3.
On Friday, the UK’s chief medical officers have agreed to downgrade the coronavirus alert level from four to three after a “steady” and continuing decrease in cases in all four nations.
Localised outbreaks of Covid-19 are still “likely” to occur, the advisers warned, and the virus remains in general circulation.
But the downgrading – recommended by the Joint Biosecurity Centre (JBC) – means transmission of coronavirus is no longer considered to be “high or rising exponentially”.
