[Desmond runs into his house with drugs in his hands... while his father, papa desmond lies on a sofa in their one room apartment along with his mother and sister who sits close to the sick man.....]
DESMOND:(Comes in).Mama how is he doing?(his father coughs)
MAMA DESMOND:My son(cries) his condition is getting worst oh....
DESMOND:Papa please be strong.I...i have some drugs here(he opens the nylon and brings out some drugs)
PAPA DESMOND:Desmond...my son(coughs) don't bother about me, it is my time..(coughs) to join my ancestors...
DESMOND:Papa dont say such you cant die.Just take your drugs and then i will take you to the hospital.
PAPA DESMOND:You have tried my son....take care of your mother and sister let me go with my problem.
MAMA DESMOND:Papa desmond why are you talking like this now.Please take your drugs....please.
RITA:Papa..(cries) please now take your drugs....i promise to hawk the oranges well enough to pay for your surgery..please papa.....
DESMOND:Papa please listen to us....I promise..... papa tomoro...tomorrow i will take you to the hospital for your operation....please
PAPA DESMOND:Am sorry my fam..fami(cough worsen)

[6 months later after the burial of Desmond's father, this scene shows a young lady having problem with her car and she looks for a way to get the car fixed as desmond appears into the scene]
JESSICA:Oh no..(the car jerks and stops) oh my God not now.(she comes down goes in to try again but the car was as stagnant as a cursed Nigerian man).What will i do now?(she comes down from the car picks her phone from her bag and tries to call but its seems the line she called was switched off).Oh ...no..what..what is all this?(desmond passing by sees the young lady's expression on her face).
DESMOND: Ehem...sorry to disturb you is any thing wrong?
JESSICA:(She swings her hair to the left with her hand).Yes my..my car just broke down i dont know what ...what is the problem.
DESMOND:Oh...ok...hmm can you open the hood of the car.
JESSICA:Right the bonnet ok...(she unlocks the bonnet as he opens it. He observes the engine just like how our president concentrates on corruption alone)
DESMOND:(He touches some parts of the engine).Please can you start it now.
JESSICA:Ok (she starts the car... its starts as the engine runs).whoa(she switched it off, comes down)thank you...
DESMOND:Oh..that please don't mention.I just checked the spark plug and removed the dirt(she gives him a napkin to clean his hands).
JESSICA:So where are you off to let me drop you.
DESMOND:My place is not far from here so please don't bother.
JESSICA:I would have showed more appreciation but am very late for a seminar...Please have my card(she hands him the complimentary card).
DESMOND:Oh...ok(he collects the card as she enter the car and starts it).

JESSICA:Ok bye for now.....(she zooms off as desmond treks his way home)
[Getting home,he sees his mother and sister in their one room apartment as another issue strikes them].
DESMOND: Mama...how you doing (he sits on the sofa).
MAMA:Well...am ok my son(she sits on a chair plaiting Rita's hair who inturn sits on the floor. suddenly they hear a knock on the door).Who...is that oh?
DESMOND:Let me get the door(he opens it as the landlord burst in).Ha...oga landlord..good afternoon.
LANDLORD:What is good about the afternoon.So you people have the right to lock my own door ehn.
DESMOND:ha oga landlord we did not know it was you.
LANDLORD:Shut up...how would you know when you will always owe...Now listen i am giving you just one week to pay me my rent else i will throw you out of here.
MAMA:(Stands up)Oga landlord please....please pity me and my children.
LANDLORD:me..me pity this one with beard?(he points at desmond)....I did not use pity to build this house... one week is one week.
DESMOND:Oga landlord please...you know i also work ....I am saving up the money to pay you..
LANDLORD:That is why i hate poor people.They beg more than the food they eat.I have said my own..... nonsense(he leaves the room.Desmond close the door to comfort his mother).
DESMOND:Mama dont worry i will see my oga tomorrow.
MAMA:Ha...papa desmond(cries) if only you were alive.You are poor but never owe and your debts you pay on time.Ha...papa desmond..
DESMOND:Mama please...i will do my best....please.
RITA:Dont cry mama..please mama.
MAMA:My children...you are the only thing keeping me in this earth.
CHILDREN:We love you mother(she hugs them as the scene ends in an emotional setting).

DON.D:(Laughs with his boys).Well baby i want you to know that my offer still stands....
JESSICA:D.don or whatever you call youself i...i have told you several times i am not interested. Please leave me alone.

DESMOND:Are you alright?
JESSICA:(Still frightened) thank you very much for saving me if not for you i don't know what those rogues would have done to me.
DESMOND:Everything is ok now but be very careful don't move late at night in such a lonely place like this.

[This scene opens up in a building site where desmond works as a labourer when he is free from school. Something shocking strikes him]
DESMOND:Oga. ..oga you go pay me well. See the work when i dey do oh...(he carries the two bags of cement....(suddenly his sister runs in crying).
RITA:Brother....brother(seeing her he drops the bags of cement.... runs to meet her).
DESMOND:Rita...rita what is it?....what?.. tell me.
RITA:Brother...(she cries)mama had an acc...accident while hawking her wares.
DESMOND:What....what....an accident....ha...ha so...... where is she now?
RITA:They rushed her to grace hospital.
DESMOND:Ok ....(sighs) wait here let me change..ok
RITA:Ok brother(she cries as he goes in to change....few minutes later,he comes out and off they go to the hospital)
[While at the hospital in the doctor's office]
DESMOND: Doctor she is my mother....
DOCTOR: Due to the accident,your mother is suffering from internal bleeding of her tissue.
DESMOND:Ha..doctor..ok how is she now..
DOCTOR:We are doing our best to stabilize her.You should know we need money to start up treatment and also for the operation. Looking at your mother's case we discovered that there is a high level of sugar in her blood which means your mother is diabetic.
DESMOND:Ha..my mother diabetic...please doctor how much for the treatment.
DOCTOR:For a start,we are looking at #150,000.
DESMOND:Ha...doctor 150 ..ha doctor the money is too much...please.
DOCTOR:This hospital have compassion for your mother if not we would not have accepted her without deposit being made.
DESMOND: Ehm...alright doctor just...just give me a week.

DESMOND: Oga no do me like this oh...abeg(he holds his boss trouser,immediately his boss push him away).
CONTRACTOR: Na me give you poverty...you and that your curse curse family...If you no wan work again tell me oh make i find another person....(The lady comes into the scene).
JESSICA: What is going on here?
CONTRACTOR: Madam welcome.... na this man oh.... no mind am abeg(she looks down at him to see desmond she becomes surprised).
JESSICA: Desmond...desmond.
CONTRACTOR: Madam you sabi am..(he looks up to see jessica he then stand up).
JESSICA: What are you doing here?
CONTRACTOR: Madam na here he dey work na yeye man.
DESMOND: This is how i survive jessica..
JESSICA: Come...(she holds his hand) lets go somewhere private....(they enter the car as it zoom off)
CONTRACTOR: Na wa oh...so madam sabi am self..hmm this kin person...(he face the other labourer).You bring the cement go that corner.
[While in a restaurant...]
DESMOND: Thats how my dad died and things have been very bad....now my mother is in the hospital as a result of an accident which resulted into internal bleeding.The doctor told me she has just..just some days to live.
JESSICA:Thats heavy..so how much is the money for the operation.
DESMOND:The doctor said #150,000 for a start.
JESSICA: Dont worry desmond your mum will not die....We will go to the hospital to pay the money.(he goes down on his knees to thank her)hey stop that we are in the public...Its really nothing compared to a life.
DESMOND:Thank you so much..sorry to ask what were you doing at that building site.
JESSICA:Oh....that.... my dad owns that building just went there to confirm some certain things for him.

JESSICA:I understand desmond you must have faith....
DESMOND:If not for your help in the payment of the operation, my mum would be long gone.
JESSICA:Come on desmond i did so because its a life here....your mum's life....Dont worry everything will be alright.
(The doctor comes out of the operating room].
DESMOND: Doctor how...how is my mother.

ALL:Thank God...(they jump up rejoicing....)
DESMOND:Doctor can we see her now.
DOCTOR:Hmm...right now she needs lot of rest tomorrow will be fine...leave her to rest.

DESMOND:No problem doctor.(he hugs his sister in excitement and looks at Jessica)....I am very grateful to God for giving us an helper like you.....thank you jessica.
JESSICA: Remember you are also an helper to me....come on you helped on several occasions.
DESMOND: Not as much as this.
JESSICA: All is well.....
RITA:Thank you aunty i pray God will always bless you.

DESMOND:Thank you (they leave the hospital as jessica drives them home).
[While at home they see boys carrying out their loads and other properties]
DESMOND:Ha....oga landlord (he runs to where he is).Please don't do this to us... my mama just did an operation now.
LANDLORD:I no try... i tell you say i give you one week to pay me or i go pack you out...Boys (focuses on his boys)take every pin out of the house.
